Thanks Peter. My 22 month old loves the mild. Now he won't barely eat eggs without it. Little kids are funny the way they latch on to things. :) :)

Kids and salsa...too funny

Last night, we had fiesta chicken bake (like a chicken pot pie with a kick) for dinner for my family of 4. My kids didn't like the pie crust so we axed that and just threw on some broken up tortilla chips. It was so easy that I felt adventurous and decided to blend up some fresh salsa on the side. Well, I don't know if this has happened to you, but it ended up a bit on the hot side. This is where the story gets interesting. I opened up a mild jar of Pace Picante for my 4 year and 2 year olds but the 4 year old wanted to have blended salsa. I tried to warn him that it was going to be too hot but he insisted. You know how 4 year olds can get. Life lessons must be learned.

Anyway, the first bit was funny. Just a tasty smile and another chip for more. After bite two, my son went for his first drink of water. My husband started smiling and motioned me to get some milk as we saw the train wreck coming... Bite three was next followed by a many sips, bite four, the cold sweat and downing the rest of the water... running to fridge to refill.....looking quite desperate as only a four year old or salsa newbie would as the burn continued to build and water was useless.... his eyes of salsa desperation met mine and the milk came to the rescue. A full glass downed…. He offered a smile of relief and a thanks mommy … I don’t know if it sunk in but it sure was cute:) Hope I brought a smile to your day.
