Mix in a little Old Bay seasoning and mild cheddar cheese with Pace Picante sauce for a new flavor.
This recipe will most likely be the quickest to throw together. However, it’s addictive. Distant friends ask for this first thing when we get the opportunity to get together again. The Old bay is going to round out the flavor of the Picante sauce and make it a little more savory.
Ingredients: Pace Picante – at least the 8 oz jar Mild Cheddar Cheese – Fancy Shreaded 1 T Old Bay Seasoning (look in the seafood section if not with the spices – yellow can) Tortilla Chips
Instructions: Empty the jar of Pace in a bowl. Add 1 tablespoon of Old Bay Seasoning. Mix in about ½ cup of mild cheddar cheese. Dip with the tortilla chips.
Notes and hints: The old bay is going to raise the heat level about 1 notch – choose your picante sauce accordingly. We prefer the Picante over the chunky salsa for the recipe Go easy at first with the Old Bay and add to taste. Too much and the seasoning will dominate the recipe rather than just accent it. We prefer mild cheddar cheese, not sharp. Just like the Old Bay, the sharp cheddar cheese has a tendency to overpower the mix. The fancy shredded helps thicken the salsa getter than the regular shred. Favorite Tortilla chips: either blue corn or Tostitos Lime Chips
